Export HelpDesk

Promoting and enhancing Cyprus’s export performance, as well as strengthening the international outlook of Cypriot businesses, remains a key objective of the Trade Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry.

Within this framework, the establishment and operation of the Export Helpdesk provide an additional tool to support Cypriot exporters in their efforts to access and expand into foreign markets.

Through a simplified procedure, the service facilitates the effective use of the Ministry’s Trade Centres abroad, helping Cypriot businesses connect with potential importers and explore new international opportunities.

  The Export Helpdesk:

  • Provides information through the Trade Centres of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry to Cypriot companies in relation to foreign markets,
  • Contributes to finding partners and importers through the Ministry’s Trade Centres abroad.

Export Helpdesk Application Procedure for Cypriot Enterprises

Before applying to the Export Helpdesk, Cypriot businesses are encouraged to conduct a preliminary assessment regarding the export potential of their products or services, as well as their  export readiness to enter foreign markets.

Once an application is submitted to the Export Helpdesk, a communication framework is established between the Ministry, the Trade Centres abroad, and the Cypriot enterprise (the applicant) seeking to export its products or services. Through this communication, the applicant provides details about the products or services intended for export, while the Trade Centres supply relevant market information. At the same time, discussions take place to identify the types and categories of buyers that the Trade Centres should approach on behalf of the Cypriot business.

As part of this process, the Ministry and the Trade Centres gather information from international databases in order to supply Cypriot exporters, through the Export Helpdesk, with useful contact details of foreign companies. Based on these data, a list of selected potential buyers is compiled. The Trade Centres may then contact these buyers directly to promote the Cypriot business, or the company itself may choose to communicate directly with the prospective importers abroad.

If mutual interest arises and in cases where the applicant’s physical presence in the target country is deemed necessary, the Trade Centre may arrange business meetings with the ultimate goal of establishing a cooperation agreement between the two parties.

For countries not covered by our Trade Centres, the Export Helpdesk may assist by providing lists of potential importers for specific products and services. Applicants are informed that for these countries, no direct contact is made with foreign importers.

The Export Helpdesk serves Cypriot businesses that export locally produced products and services. Companies that import goods solely for re-export without any processing in Cyprus are excluded from the scheme.
